Alexander Technique

The Alexander Technique teaches people how to use their bodies better. By re-educating the neuro-muscular system, the technique enables improved mobility, posture and performance while reducing pain that accompanies muscular tension and misuse. The Alexander Technique is a process that literally changes these interfering muscular patterns and behaviors that cause pain, limit movement, and diminish performance.

People experiencing pain (back, joint, repetitive stress injury, even headaches) will find relief through the release of muscular tension. Athletes, dancers and musicians also use the technique to improve performance. Alexander Technique has also been demonstrated beneficial on a wide range of conditions including Parkinson's, migraines, ADHD, and neurological conditions.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage can be very effective in inducing relaxation, releasing chronic patterns of tension and restoring the structural and functional integrity of the musculoskeletal system. Techniques such as Swedish light touch and deep strokes or Deep Tissue using deep strokes and point pressure are used in a session.

Massage can address dysfunctions relating to: stress, prolonged computer work, bad posture, sports or any other type of injuries, excessive athletic training, repetitive overuse of muscle groups, various orthopedic conditions, headaches, etc.

Trager Bodywork

The Trager Approach is a somatic system of gentle rocking and lengthening movements of the client’s body aimed at facilitating deep relaxation, flexibility and increased physical mobility. As these rhythmic motions progress, it is thought that deeper states of relaxation can facilitate the release of unhealthy patterns of tension between mind and body at an unconscious level. By teaching the mind to unlearn these patterns of “blockage,” the body can also release chronic states of tension and become more flexible with less pain. The feelings of lightness, openness, and peace that the Trager technique induces resonate throughout the nervous system.

Thai Yoga Massage

Thai Yoga Massage is an ancient bodywork system that combines acupressure, stimulation of energy lines and assisted yoga postures. Clients remains clothed during a treatment and are encouraged to relax and breathe deeply. The practitioner pulls, stretches, and rocks the client's body in order to clear energy blockages and relieve tension. The practitioner uses thumbs, palms, forearms, elbows, knees, and feet to create movement on the body of the recipient. In this process, joints are opened, muscles and tendons are stretched, internal organs are toned, and energy is balanced. The overall effect is one of deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and enhanced physical and mental well being.
